Eighth Annual International Export Control Conference

The Eighth International Export Control Conference, held in Bucharest, Romania, from March 6-8, 2007, drew together over 180 export control officials and experts from 55 countries and 12 international organizations including the United Nations, the European Union, the World Customs Organization, and numerous Non Governmental Organizations. Topics ranged from the status of UNSCR 1540 implementation to updates on events within the four multilateral nonproliferation regimes (Australia Group, the Wassenaar Arrangement, the Nuclear Suppliers Group, and the Missile Technology Control Regime). Policy, licensing, and enforcement discussion groups met frequently during the conference to discuss a wide range of issues important to these disciplines. The conference concluded with reports to the plenary from each discussion group that highlighted the prominent concerns and potential solutions to today's most challenging export control issues.
